"Educating Lucky" is the 201st episode of the FOX animated television series King of the Hill, though it is credited as the 200th episode.[1] It was the 15th episode broadcast in the 10th season.

Plot

Luanne's boyfriend Lucky (Tom Petty) asks Peggy to tutor him so that he can get his G.E.D.. According to Lucky's 'code of honor', he has to get his G.E.D. in order to be worthy of asking Luanne to marry him, much like his father and grandfather before him had to live up to their codes before they could marry. When Lucky is studying for the G.E.D., it is shown he actually already knows most of the answers which were gathered through his life experience, but seeks Peggy's help on the areas he is weak. Peggy, feeling that Lucky isn't good enough for Luanne, purposely teaches him the wrong information in hopes that he will fail the G.E.D. exam and be unable to propose. When the test results arrive, everyone (except for Peggy) is shocked to learn that Lucky has in fact failed. To cheer up a despondent Lucky, Luanne then reveals that she is pregnant with his child. The couple rejoice until Luanne exclaims that they can now wed and start a family, whereupon Lucky sadly explains that because of his code of honor marriage is not an option for him without his G.E.D. in hand. Luanne bursts into tears, as does Lucky, and Peggy begins to realize guilt over what she has done.

Hank, still oblivious to the fact of Peggy's misteachings, goes to find Lucky and demand that he marry Luanne. When Lucky continues to insist that he isn't good enough, Peggy confesses to sabotaging his chances for his G.E.D. and tells Lucky that all she had really wanted was for Luanne to be happy. Lucky reveals to Hank that all of his family members had married despite having failed to live up to their own codes, because the weddings had all been shotgun weddings. Hank then stands over Lucky with a shotgun as he proposes to an ecstatic Luanne at last.
